Summer Art Camps, June - July 2010
Five weeks of fun-filled and creative art projects to make your summer a blast! Ages 6 - 13
The Noyes Museum of Art- 733 Lily Lake Road, Oceanville, NJ 08231

Week #1 – The Nature of Art Camp*

June 28 – July 2: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Regis. deadline: 6/14)
Explore the beautiful wooded lakeside surroundings of the Noyes Museum of Art (as weather permits), observing nature and gathering materials for your art projects during this fun camp. Participants can start an artsy nature journal, sketch nature, and make beautiful leaf rubbings and “smushings”. Make your own clay “fossils”, colorful sun catchers, recycled birdhouses and a plaster tree or animal sculpture then go “hands on” with a group finger paint mural. Instructor: C. Safeer

Week #2 – Art Around the World Camp*:
Monday, July 5 – Friday, July 9: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Regis. deadline: 6/21)
Participate in an art-filled multicultural journey to Holland, Africa, Australia, China, & Mexico. Each day students will record their ideas in a hand-crafted sketchbook, create culturally relevant art and illustrate a postcard representing their travels. Create Dutch “Delft” pottery, African masks, Australian aboriginal map paintings, Chinese fish kites and an Aztec mythical creature group sculpture. Instructor: L. Lichtenstein

Week #3 – Hippie Art Camp*:
Monday, July 12 – Friday, July 16: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Regis. deadline: 6/28)
A week of groovy hands-on art projects focusing on creative self-expression. Paint your own colorful design on a “silk” flag, make splashy silhouette posters with cool poetry (originals or favorite quotes), psychedelic photocopy collages, rainbow tie-dye t-shirts and a giant group “burning man” sculpture. Instructor: S. Schmidt

Week #4 – Famous Artists Camp*:
Monday, July 19 – Friday, July 23: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Regis. deadline: 7/5)
Do you have a favorite artist? Maybe you like Jeffery Koons balloon sculptures, or you'd like to appear in a self portrait surrounded by monkeys like Frida Kahlo. We'll meet several iconic artists & examine their signature styles. You’ll create impressive works of art inspired by Keith Haring, Joseph Cornell, Jeffery Koons, Frida Kahlo and Andy Warhol. Week #5 – Green A.R.T. (Arty Recycled Treasures) Camp*:
Monday July 26 – Friday, July 30: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Regis. deadline: 7/12)
Make an exotic treasure box to store your stuff, paint a one-of-a-kind “logo mania” t-shirt, create your own musical instrument out of bottle caps to shake to the beat, design snazzy summer beach jewelry for a guy or girl and build a fantastic faux metal sculpture out of wood. Instructor: B. Eger
